EXPERT SERVICES

From requirements to working systems.

Security and governance requirements only matter if they can be translated into architectures, controls, and operating practices that work in the environments they are meant to protect.

ObsidianWall helps organizations assess existing environments, architect what should change, engineer and implement approved improvements, and verify the resulting implementation against defined requirements.

BUILT FOR REAL ENVIRONMENTS

Start with the environment you actually have.

Organizations rarely begin with a blank environment. Existing infrastructure, cloud platforms, identities, controls, tooling, processes, constraints, and technical debt all shape what can and should change.

Effective architecture and engineering therefore require more than selecting a framework or describing a target state. Requirements have to be understood in context and translated into changes that can operate within the organization's actual environment.

ObsidianWall works with organizations to understand that environment, determine what needs to change, and carry approved improvements through architecture, engineering, implementation, and verification.

ObsidianWall's expert-services practice is founder-led, built on substantial hands-on cybersecurity, cloud, identity, Zero Trust, governance, and security-engineering experience.

WHAT WE WORK ON

Five areas of expert capability.

  • Security Architecture & Engineering

Assess, design, and improve security architecture, controls, and technical implementation across the systems an organization depends on.

Work may include architecture assessment and design, security-control engineering, hardening, implementation planning, and technical remediation within the agreed scope.

  • Cloud Security Architecture & Engineering

Assess, design, and improve security across Azure and AWS environments, including architecture, identity, configuration, controls, and operational security.

Work may include cloud-security assessment, architecture and control design, configuration improvement, identity and access considerations, and implementation support within the agreed scope.

  • Identity & Zero Trust

Assess and improve identity-centered access architecture, authorization controls, and Zero Trust approaches appropriate to the organization's environment.

Work may include identity architecture, access-control design, authentication and authorization, privileged access, lifecycle considerations, and the integration of identity and device context into access decisions.

  • Governance Engineering

Translate governance requirements into technical controls, decision points, and operating mechanisms that can function within real systems and workflows.

Work may include control architecture, policy operationalization, governance decision points, technical enforcement design, and the integration of governance requirements into engineering and operational processes.

  • Assurance & Control Engineering

Design, implement, and verify controls against defined requirements, with attention to how those controls operate in practice rather than merely how they are documented.

Work may include control assessment, evidence-oriented verification, implementation review, gap identification, and remediation engineering within the agreed scope.

FROM SCOPE TO VERIFICATION

A disciplined path from scope to verification.

ObsidianWall uses a structured delivery lifecycle to establish the engagement, understand the environment, perform the agreed work, and verify the resulting implementation.

  1. Understand the engagement

    Qualify → Scope

Establish the problem, determine whether ObsidianWall is an appropriate fit, define the engagement boundary, and agree on objectives, responsibilities, access, and expected outcomes.

  2. Understand the environment

    Discover → Assess

Gather the information and evidence necessary to understand the current environment, then evaluate it against the requirements and objectives established for the engagement.

  3. Design and deliver

    Architect → Deliver

Define the appropriate architecture, controls, or technical changes and carry out the approved work within the agreed scope and authority.

  4. Verify and transition

    Verify → Close / Continue

Confirm that the resulting implementation matches the agreed design or control objective, document material findings and outcomes, and either close the engagement or define explicitly agreed follow-on work.

The lifecycle provides structure without requiring every engagement to have the same size, duration, or depth.

HOW WE WORK

Clear authority. Deliberate access. Verifiable work.

  • Customer authority

Your organization retains authority over its environment, governance decisions, and risk decisions unless specific authority is explicitly delegated within the agreed engagement scope.

  • Minimum necessary access

ObsidianWall operates with the minimum access necessary to perform the agreed work. Changes to customer environments require explicit authorization and remain bounded by the engagement scope.

  • Vendor neutrality

Recommendations are driven by the organization's requirements and environment—not by a requirement to purchase an ObsidianWall product or adopt a predetermined vendor.

  • Verification over assumption

Where an engagement includes implementation, completion is evaluated against the agreed design or control objective. Material findings and verification should be traceable to evidence rather than assumed from the fact that work was performed.

EXPERTISE WITHOUT PRODUCT LOCK-IN

Our services don't require our products.

ObsidianWall's expert services stand independently from its technology. Working with ObsidianWall does not require your organization to adopt Verdict or another ObsidianWall product.

Where ObsidianWall technology is relevant to an engagement, it can be considered on its merits within the organization's requirements and environment rather than treated as a prerequisite.

DISCUSS AN ENGAGEMENT

Start with the problem you're trying to solve.

Tell us about the environment, requirement, architecture question, or control problem you need to address. We can determine whether ObsidianWall is a fit and define an appropriate scope from there.
